Background of the Study
Gender stereotypes significantly influence the career choices of youths in Ilesa West Local Government Area, Osun State. Deep-rooted societal beliefs about gender roles often steer young individuals toward careers deemed appropriate for their gender, limiting their potential and reinforcing occupational segregation (Adebayo, 2023). These stereotypes are perpetuated through family expectations, media portrayals, and educational practices, ultimately shaping the self-perception and ambition of young people. Recent research suggests that early exposure to gendered expectations can lead to the internalization of restrictive career norms, thereby affecting long-term professional development (Olu, 2024). The study explores how these stereotypes manifest in career counseling, school curricula, and societal interactions, and examines their impact on youth employment prospects. Statement of the Problem
